A centrifuge is an instrument used by almost all research laboratories around the world. Centrifugation is a basic laboratory process that uses a centrifuge to separate components in a messy mixture. Centrifuging the experimental sample at very high speeds, the components in the mixture will be affected by the centrifugal force, causing particles with higher density to move away from the axis, while particles with lower density move toward the axis. These particles will deposit on the bottom of the tube to form a so-called sediment. The sample thus separated, or the remaining liquid called supernatant, can be used for further processing or analysis.


What should be paid attention to when using the centrifuge


(1) The bottom of the centrifuge casing should be padded with cotton or test tube pads.


(2) If there is noise or body vibration of the electric centrifuge, the power supply should be blocked immediately to eliminate the fault immediately.


(3) It is necessary to put the centrifuge tube into the sleeve symmetrically to prevent the vibration of the body.


(4) When starting the centrifuge, the top cover of the centrifuge should be covered before it can be started gradually.


(5) After the separation is completed, first close the centrifuge. After the centrifuge stops rotating, you can open the centrifuge lid and take out the sample. You cannot force it to stop moving with external force.


(6) The centrifugation time is generally 1 to 2 minutes. During this period, the experimenter must not leave to do other things.
